Line Cutting at Ranch 99 Supermarket

From Michie, Ranch 99 Northern California, USA

Basically this happened to me multiple times already. I would be standing there behind the glass display window waiting patiently for one of the butchers to become available (i like to order those minced pork for soup), as they are usually helping someone already. And almost every time, when a butcher does become available and start asking in general what he can do to help, I would get cut by someone, who completely ignores my existence (99% of the time it would be an older asian lady, not to be racist or anything). And it's not like I am not making it obvious that I am standing in line. I stand pretty close to the display window and not really on the side either. Plus it's not like I am holding anything that would make them believe I had been helped already. In general, I think older asian females have no regards for lining etiquette.

Their mindset is push push push, let me get in front, they have no patience at all. Most of the time, I would let the person who cuts me go ahead cuz I am not in a hurry. But one time I was in a bad mood and I actually spoke up. I said to her firmly, "excuse me, I believe I was in line first." Then I made eye contact with the butcher and proceeded with my order. It's not a big deal but it's just one of those small things that make your day a little worse.

In comparison to some of my experiences in American supermarkets such as safeway, such a big difference. I had gotten multiple offers at Safeway by someone to let me go first because I only have one or two items. I never got that offer at a ranch. I mean I am chinese too and I really hate the idea that chinese people tend to be more rude/selfish than your average Americans. I thought about this a lot actually, trying to rationalize this phenomena. I am not sure if I am right or not in my theory, but I believe chinese are this way because back in the days in China, they didn't have enough to go around so they always had to fight for things/goods, etc. There is this whole hoarder mentality in their head. Oh just in case there's not enough, I better claim more or be the first in line to get stuff. I know many older asian people who just hoard things like crazy... so much stuff at their houses.. it's like you can shop at their house!

It's not just you.  I've seen it happen at the Ranch 99s I visit as well and it's not just old ladies but middle aged ladies and older men too.  They tend to do what's convenient for them thinking they have the right not realizing others are pressed for time too but are willing to wait their turn.  I'm only giving them a 1 shameless-ness because I too believe it's the culture that made them this way and hopefully with the next generation, this line cutting issue phenomenon at Asian markets would be occuring less.

Racism Against Something That Carries No Racism

Last month, there was an outrage on a youtube video commercial by Cheerios where it shows a white mom, black dad, and a cute little girl who was biracial.  Comments are just so mean hearted saying it was "disgusting and it makes them want to vomit".  If I saw the commercial, I would have seen nothing wrong with it.  Seriously, what's wrong with it?  It's a happy family.  It doesn't matter if the family is interracial or having two parents of the same sex.  Who cares?!?!  Be more open minded you people!  What century are we in?!?!?!  Would you call Mariah Carey disgusting?  No! She's such a beatiful lady with an angel's voice!  I can't say much about her personality as I do not know her personally but she's certainly a more decent person than those making the racist comments!

BTW, your racist comments are even more disgusting and not only do I want to vomit, I want to let it out the other end on you too!

YOU MAKE HUMANS LOOK BAD

Racist Adults vs. Talented 11 Year Old

Not sure if you heard about the case where the 11 year old boy Mexican-American boy who wore his mariachi outfit at AT&T Stadium in San Antonio for Game 3 of the NBA playoffs.  After his performance, the internet was flooded with racist comments.  Source of this is from CNN.com

Here's a sampling of some of the unkind tweets that went flying around the Internet about Sebastien De La Cruz:
-- "Why they got a Mexican kid singing the national anthem -___-" from Daniel Gilmore.
-- "How you singing the national anthem looking like an illegal immigrant" from Andre Lacey, proud father and firefighter from Augusta, Georgia.
-- "Why is a foreigner singing the national anthem. I realize that's San Antonio but that still ain't Mexico" from Lewie Groh.
-- "Who let this illegal alien sing our national anthem?" from Matt Cyrus.

With America being a huge melting pot, you'd think that these kind of comments would not even exist.  Tweets should go like "amazing performance!", "brave kid to stand in front of such a huge audience!"  But unfortunately, this is what happens when people hide behind the keyboard and computer screen.  They don't use their brain.

Hey guess what?  This kid has accomplished more in his 11 years of life than you so STFU.

YOU MAKE HUMANS LOOK BAD

The Unreasonable Parking Lot Man

From MommyofTwo, Maple at the public library, Ontario, Canada

So I was putting the kids in the car. I opened the door so I can put my 1.5 month old in. The man next to my car comes and says "close your door!" I told him I'm just putting the car seat in. It'll literally take one minute. He's like "No close your door I have to back out!" He didn't even say please or anything. I'm a jellyfish but not when it's about my kids. I just kept on doing what I was doing. I was there first. The longer he demands me the slower I'm be :P

Wow.  An absolute jerk who is no gentleman at all.  Facing a mom with two kids on her own, he was DEMANDING her to stop what she's doing so that he can shit in his car seat on his way to reincarnate.

The Shameless Walmart Shopper

So over the weekend, I bought something from Walmart but when I took a closer look at the product when I reached my car, I noticed that it was defective. I went back inside to try to return or exchange it but the line was too long. So I drove home and stopped by the Walmart that was closer the house. I went in and though there was a line, it was a lot shorter. I lined up behind this teenager who was trying to return something took. After a 5 minute wait, this lady walked in. I don't want to bring racism into this entry but let's just say she and the teenager were the same ethnicity, and I was of a different ethnicity. She walked straight up from the entrance and stood between me and the teenager in front and said "I'm with him." I'm like "uh...okay. Go ahead." So another 5 minutes passed and I noticed that the lady and the teenager never once made eye contact and the teenager never even turned his head around once. So I thought, ok, maybe they're fighting? Then when it was the teenager's turn to return something, he occupied one Walmart rep and that lady continued waiting. I was like aren't you two together?!?!? You said you were with him!??!?!. The teenager finished his return and left the Walmart and the lady stepped up to the counter. I was left speechless. Is this how you cut in line?!?!?! Say you're with someone because you are the same ethnicity and cut in line just like that while the rest of us wait patiently in line? She shamelessly lied without even feeling guilty!!!
